Tips for new runs
- Pairs are your safety net. A pair is the cheapest pattern in the game and it powers Twin Strike, Bulwark, Mend, Disrupt and Cleanse — keep your bag flexible enough to make one on most rolls.
- Read the intent every turn. Enemies show their next move. A heavy hit that is already winding up is the moment to block or to play Disrupt or Shove.
- Don't spend all 2 rerolls by habit. A good roll is worth keeping; rerolls also let you chase a pattern you've half built.
- Commit to a theme. A bag built around one symbol scores far better than one with a little of everything, and runes and relics are strongest when they reinforce each other.
- A smaller bag can be stronger. Paying the peddler to remove a weak die keeps Blanks and off-theme faces from clogging your rolls.
- Use the campfire deliberately. Healing, max HP and a face upgrade compete for one choice — take what the next depth needs, not what feels safest.
- Know Rot. Rot steals rerolls permanently until you play a Cleanse (a pair), so keep that option in mind against the creatures that inflict it.
Statuses
- Curse
- Takes 1 extra damage from every hit, per stack.
- Poison
- At the start of its turn, loses HP equal to the stacks — then one stack fades.
- Regen
- At the start of its turn, heals HP equal to the stacks — then one stack fades.
- Rot
- Permanent. Each stack takes one reroll from every turn. A Cleanse ritual purges it all.
- Gorged
- It has fed. Deals extra damage per stack — the Glutton grows fat on every ritual you cast.
