The world of Carve the Fate
A stark, ink-black underworld drawn from Norse myth: barrow-mounds that won't stay shut, vaults older than the gods, an engine that learned to hunger, and a green hell under the roots of the world. Ravens watch; runes are carved into bone.
The world is told through its depths, its creatures and the strangers you meet on the road. This page is a tour of what the game itself shows you — for exact numbers and abilities, use the game guide.
1. The Barrows
where the dead still keep their oaths
9 common creatures, 3 elites and 5 bosses haunt this depth. Among the common ones: Draugr, Hollow Knight, Barrow Ghost, Tally-Stone Golem.
Bosses

The Bone Jarl
Every ritual you speak, he answers in kind.

Sköll, the Sun-Chaser
The wolf that runs down the sun. It will not let you dawdle — reach for your dice too slowly and the hunt rerolls them out from under you.

The Blind Norn
A hooded weaver of fate with stitched-shut eyes, hands moving over a loom of grey thread. She reads no future to you — every blow comes unseen.

The Loomweaver
A many-armed spinner at a great bone loom, threading your fate into her weave. What she pins, you cannot pull free.

The Plague Sovereign
It holds a court of rot. Every turn you stand before it, you rot a little more.
Elites

Runebreaker
It has shattered a hundred sets of matching bones.

Barrow Champion
A dead warlord who still keeps the old forms: shield up, then everything at once.

The Bonecaller
A hooded barrow-priest who whistles the dead back to their feet. Kill it fast, before the hands pile up.
2. The Drowned Vaults
older than the gods, and still awake
7 common creatures, 3 elites and 2 bosses haunt this depth. Among the common ones: Tidegorged Thrall, Vault Maw, Hollow Chorister, Spawn of the Nameless.
Bosses

Mother of the Deep
A vast tentacled god-thing crowned in drowned stars. She dreamed the vaults before the sea filled them, and every ritual spoken in her halls feeds her.

The Vault Warden
The vaults' last sworn sentinel, grown into its own door. Every ritual you speak, it answers with stone — and runs of bones break against its seal.
Elites

Keeper of the Sunken Door
A colossal warden of coral-crusted stone and tentacle, holding one oath for ten thousand years: nothing leaves. Runs of matching bones break against it.

The Drowned Choir
A mass of waterlogged bodies fused into one singing thing. Every skull you roll is another voice in its hymn.

The Tide Caller
A robed thing of coral and rope that whistles the drowned lights up from the deep. Silence it before the sea answers.
3. The Flesh Engine
where iron learned to hunger
6 common creatures, 3 elites and 3 bosses haunt this depth. Among the common ones: Lattice Stalker, Conduit Wraith, Cipher Engine, Piston Ghoul.
Bosses

The God-Engine
The heart of the flesh engine: a cathedral-sized fusion of ribcage, turbine, and screaming architecture. Every ritual spoken in its presence is answered with a lash of cable.

The Rustheart
The engine's corroded first heart, still beating out of spite. Every ritual spoken in its chamber leaves rust in your lungs.

The Echo Warden
A warden of coiled brass and recording horns that has heard every ritual ever spoken here. Say the same word twice and it simply refuses to let it land.
Elites

The Grafted King
Every champion the engine swallowed is riveted somewhere onto him, a throne of fused armour and tubing. Matched bones offend him.

Hive of Needles
A swarm of syringes and probes flying in loose formation around a pulsing core. Every skull you roll, it tithes in blood.

Flywheel Colossus
A tower of counterweights and grave-iron. It winds itself tight over two long breaths — and then the wheel comes down.

the green hell beneath the roots of the world
6 common creatures, 2 elites and 2 bosses haunt this depth. Among the common ones: Howler, Strangler Vine, Thornback Boar, Mist of the Green.
Bosses

The Monkey King
A silverback crowned in stolen gold, hauling a rune-scarred bazooka looted from no forge of this world. His court screams in the canopy, and his rockets announce themselves a breath before they land.
The Doppelgänger
A shade that wears your face and hands, and answers every ritual you speak by speaking it back. To beat it you must out-think yourself.
Elites

Simian Warchief
A scar-mapped ape lord drumming the war-beat on its own chest. Every third beat, the canopy answers with howlers.

The Rootwalker
An elder tree that pulled its own roots and learned to march. It gathers a season of growth in two long breaths — then swings it all at once.

The Storm-Glass Altar
Lightning fused this altar to black glass long ago.
Symbols and curses
Dice are carved with six symbols — Sword, Shield, Bone, Skull, Reroll, Cross — and the dead-and-cursed side of the world shows up as statuses: Curse (takes 1 extra damage from every hit, per stack); Poison (at the start of its turn, loses hp equal to the stacks — then one stack fades); Regen (at the start of its turn, heals hp equal to the stacks — then one stack fades); Rot (permanent. each stack takes one reroll from every turn. a cleanse ritual purges it all); Gorged (it has fed. deals extra damage per stack — the glutton grows fat on every ritual you cast).
